Welcome to South Shore Ayurveda!
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a 5000 year old system of health care that originates from India; it is the longest continuously practiced system of health care in the world. It is based on the 5 elements (ether, air, fire, water and earth), the 3 doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) the seasons and you!
Everyone has their own unique make up physically, mentally, and emotionally. This unique make up sometimes gets uniquely imbalanced. Ayurveda uses natural methods of bringing balance back to the individual using food, lifestyle practices, herbs ( both culinary and medicinal). Everyone who practices Ayurveda practices a little differently because everyone is different. Ayurveda customizes lifestyle plans according to each individual’s make up, daily routine, season and personal belief system.
Ayurveda is a holistic system of health that is all inclusive and works beautifully with western medicine and any practices you already have in place. An Ayurvedic lifestyle may include positive changes to your diet that will bring balance, cleansing of senses through gentle practices such as use of the neti pot and tongue scraper, culinary herbs, organic medicinal herbs, yoga and breath work.
Some of the conditions Ayurveda is helpful for are: constipation, digestive concerns, insomnia weight loss and management, stress and anxiety, menstrual concerns, aches/pains, and general overall health maintenance.
Whether you are healthy and balanced and want to continue down your current state or feel like you need to bring balance to areas of your life, Ayurveda may be your path to wholeness and wellness..
